The Power of Your Word

Recently I was texted by an associate who, it would appear. has developed some “anti-vax” beliefs. They forwarded me an Instagram video which claimed a plethora of vaccine related side-effects (including blindness and paralysis) and that a group of scientists were petitioning the World Health Organization to eradicate the vaccine.
The tip-off for me was the “news” report started off with a banner reporting stats on the “Chinese Coronavirus”.
I had heard this term before, and it was not from someone I consider a reliable source of news.
I shared with the person that this seemed to me to be “stinking thinking” and I could imagine that it has brought on some “drunk drinking” for many who believed it.
But this experience caused me to think deeply about the Science of Mind and the power of beliefs. I have committed to this philosophy because of the actual life experiences I have had with these teachings over the past 23 years.
In Religious Science, we do not worship Ernest Holmes as a spiritual deity. We recognize him as an awakened human being who synthesized ancient wisdom into a teaching that he considered to be “open at the top”.
What he meant was that each practitioner (you and I) of Science of Mind will have insights and realizations about the Divine that will take us deeper and deeper into uncovering the Power and Presence within. Moreover, when we share this deepening awareness with others, we lift the consciousness of the entire planet.
In the book of John 14:12, the Master Teacher Yeshua of Nazareth said, “and even Greater than these things, shall ye do” reminding us that our potential to manifest good upon the earth is unlimited.
Our teaching is about having a conscious contact with that One Who Has Many Names and having a spiritual experience in the laboratory of our own lives.
So today I choose this New Thought about what I call “a new idea about loving God in ourselves and others.”
34 years ago, an old-timer told me that “You don’t have to believe what you don’t believe!” and he gave me a book called “A New Pair of Glasses” by Chuck C. Turns out Chuck C. was a Religious Science minister. Coincidence?
The Apostle Paul in the 1st book of Corinthians 13:11 writes “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child”. This reminds me that the ideas I had about God’s loving have evolved. My beliefs about God’s Love have evolved from when I was age 6, age 12 and age 18.
The truth of the matter is that I reached a point in my life where I realized that the God of my own understanding will not “burn me in hell forever”, neither is She angry or jealous.
As a spiritually evolved being, no longer a child reliant upon someone else’s belief about God, I recognize anger and jealousy as human qualities and know that this Power made me in Its image, and I don’t get to return the favor.
If this Presence was small enough for me to define it, then It wouldn’t be big enough to be the Divine. But this loving Presence gives me hints about Its True Nature.
For example, there are spiritual laws that it created. And just like the laws of nature, I can understand and use them in my life. As a matter of fact, today I understand these laws even better today than when I was six, twelve or eighteen years old.
I know that “what goes around comes around” from my own experience. I know that everything is energy. I know that my thoughts go out and create my life, from my own experience. Yeshua of Nazareth explained it by saying “It is done unto you as you believe.”
I learned in Foundations class that a belief is simply a thought that I continue to think. I also realized that just because I think something repeatedly, does not make it True. Experience proves Truth. Sometimes it is proven by contending against it.
I spent 22 years of my life thinking I could drink like “normal” people, but it didn’t make it true! But that is another story.
Today I know that my thoughts become beliefs become words become action. The philosophy of Science of Mind guides me with the understanding that there is One Life, That Life is God’s Life, that Life is Perfect Life, that Life is my Life now.
Right where I am God is. God and I are one. I cannot be separated from my God or my Good. We are all connected by the Silver Thread of God’s Love.
These Thoughts are now Beliefs to me, and are in my humble opinion, Good. I choose them today instead of my old thoughts about being unworthy of God’s love, or guilt because I am not perfect and have shortcomings. Today, I think thoughts that are Good and uplifting and that go out to reinforce the loving energy field that surrounds me.
Science is now measuring the impact of spirituality and our thoughts about God on our consciousness, our minds, and our physical bodies. The exciting new field of Neurotheology is revealing how God changes our brains. (Which happens to be the title of a book by Andrew Newberg MD)
So, science is catching up and proving what we metaphysicians have been discovering in our own lives; that God is Good - Good for you, Good to you and especially Good for “stinking thinking”.
