The Way It Works — A Living Teaching

I often invite folk to return to one simple, grounding question—especially in seasons of growth and change: How does this actually work? Not just in theory, but in real life. In leadership. In community. In healing. In the daily decisions that shape who we are becoming together at Ahiah.

Ernest Holmes was unwavering in his insistence that spirituality must be usable. He wrote, “If a thing is true, it can be proved.” At Ahiah, we take that seriously. We are not interested in spiritual ideas that remain abstract or inspirational but never embodied. We are here to live the teaching—to demonstrate it in how we lead, how we serve, and how we care for one another.

Science of Mind teaches that we live in an intelligent universe governed by Law. This Law is not personal in the human sense; it does not reward or punish. Holmes reminds us, “We live in a universe of law, and law is no respecter of persons.” The Way it works is not through hierarchy or control, but through our alignment with spiritual truth.

Holmes described Reality as threefold: Spirit, Law, and Form. Spirit is the Infinite Intelligence—the One Life expressing itself. Law is the responsive medium that says yes. Form is what shows up. From is the demonstration of spiritual law that shows up as answered prayer.

This teaching has become foundational for us at Ahiah, especially as we practice a Shared Leadership model. No one person is the source. No one voice is the whole truth. Spirit initiates. Law responds. Form emerges through us—together.

This is deeply important. Shared Leadership is not just an organizational strategy; it is a metaphysical stance. It rests on the understanding that intelligence is not scarce, that wisdom is distributed, and that consciousness precedes structure.

Holmes wrote, “The mind of the individual is immersed in the Mind of the Universe.” When we trust that, collaboration stops feeling risky and begins to feel natural.

Consciousness, in Science of Mind, is not merely what we think—it is the atmosphere we embody. It is the emotional, mental, and spiritual tone we consistently live from. The Law responds to that tone. It does not respond to our good intentions alone. Holmes was clear: “The Law of Mind acts upon our beliefs, whether they be true or false.”

This past year we have been proving this spiritual theory with the countless demonstrations of Good taking place in our community partnerships, our prosperity overflow, our We Thrive youth group and the leadership growth in our community circles, to name just a few of the areas that we are experiencing phenomenal growth.

This is why we place such emphasis on spiritual health and wellness at Ahiah—not as add-ons, but as the foundation of everything we do. A center cannot be a place of healing if it is unconsciously operating from fear, scarcity, or control. A community cannot flourish if it is driven by personalities rather than Principle. Our work is to tend the inner climate, knowing that demonstrations in physical world reality will follow.

Modern science, particularly conversations emerging from quantum physics, gives us language that resonates here. We hear scientists exploring the idea that the brain may be less a generator of intelligence and more a receiver or interpreter of a larger field of information. While Science of Mind is metaphysical—and scientific—the parallel is striking. We are not creating intelligence; we are tuning into it. We are not forcing outcomes; we are aligning with what already is.

This understanding changes how we lead. It changes how we make decisions. It changes how we respond to challenge. When something isn’t working, we don’t ask, Who is at fault? We ask, What consciousness is being expressed here? Holmes reassures us, “There is nothing wrong with the Law; there is something wrong with our understanding of it.” That insight keeps us humble, curious, and open.

The Way it works is simple—but not shallow. Thought impressed with belief, energized by feeling, and sealed with acceptance sets the Law in motion. Acceptance is not passivity; it is inner agreement. It is the moment we stop resisting the good we say we want. This is true for individuals, and it is true for spiritual communities.

As we grow Ahiah CSL into a premier space for spiritual health, wellness, and healing, our work is not to strive harder, but to listen deeper. To trust that the same Intelligence that formed the universe knows how to express as a thriving, inclusive, loving center. Our role is cooperation.

So this week, I invite us to ask—not just personally, but collectively: What are we accepting as true about ourselves? About one another? About what is possible for our collective future? Let us consciously choose alignment over effort, trust over control, Principle over personality.

Holmes said it beautifully: “Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.” At Ahiah CSL, we are choosing to think, feel, and live from the truth that Life is intelligent, responsive, and already saying yes. When we understand the Way it works, and we walk the Science of Mind talk, we stop managing outcomes—and begin embodying the vision.

And that is how transformation happens. Let’s celebrate the amazing outcomes of Living IN the Prosperity Overflow.

Come join us for the 2026 Holiday Lunch this Sunday Jan 11th, as we celebrate the even Greater Yet to Be emerging as our amazing center for transformation in 2026.

Don’t forget to RSVP here, so we will have your plate ready!

Love and Light surrounds us,

Rev. Michael (Kisumma)
