Living IN the Overflow
Living IN the Overflow

There are seasons in life when it feels as though we are running on empty. The demands are many, the needs feel endless, and the world seems to ask more of us than we believe we have to give. Yet Spirit gently whispers a deeper truth: you were not created for depletion—you were created for overflow.

This month, as we explore the theme Remember, we are invited to remember something essential about our spiritual nature: abundance is not something we chase. It is something we awaken to.

Sacred Overflow begins not in our bank accounts, schedules, or circumstances. It begins in consciousness. In the Science of Mind tradition, Ernest Holmes reminds us that “Spirit can give to us only as It can give through us.” This means the good we seek is not withheld from us—it seeks expression through us. Life itself is always moving, giving, circulating, blessing.

But somewhere along the journey, many of us forget.

We forget that we are connected to an inexhaustible Source. We begin to believe in scarcity: not enough time, not enough energy, not enough support, not enough love. Fear convinces us to clutch tightly, to protect what little we think we have.

Remembering to live in Sacred Overflow is a spiritual state of mind.

It is the conscious choice to trust that Divine Goodness is inexhaustible. We cannot outgive God because Infinite Spirit is the very nature of endless giving. Whether we are offering kindness, generosity, forgiveness, service, love, or financial support, we do not diminish our supply by living from an abundant heart. Instead, we participate in the divine circulation of life.

Sacred Overflow teaches us that we can never truly run out of Goodness—of ideas, opportunities, support, healing, peace, or love—because our Source is Infinite. As we remember this truth, we shift from fear to faith, from grasping to gratitude, from survival to sufficiency.

Sacred Overflow asks something radically different of us. It asks us to remember.

Remember the moments when grace carried you through what should have broken you.

Remember the unexpected kindness that arrived exactly when you needed it.

Remember the times when what looked impossible gave way to new opportunity.

Remember that Divine Love has never abandoned you.

Overflow is not excess for excess’s sake. Sacred Overflow is the natural outpouring of a life aligned with Spirit. It is the peace that remains when chaos surrounds us. It is generosity born from trust rather than fear. It is joy that spills beyond circumstance. It is wisdom shared freely because we know there is always more where it came from.

Think of a river. A river remains fresh because it flows. When water is dammed up too tightly, it stagnates. The same is true for spiritual living. We are not meant merely to receive blessings; we are called to become channels for them.

What if remembering is itself a spiritual practice?

What if each day we paused to remember who we are and whose we are?

What if we remembered that the Presence within us is greater than any appearance before us?

This week, take a quiet moment to ask yourself: Where in my life have I forgotten my connection to the Infinite? Where is Sacred Overflow seeking expression through me?

Then listen.

You may discover that the love you seek is already present. The wisdom you need is already within. The supply you long for is already flowing.

The invitation is simple:

Remember.

And in remembering, allow yourself to experience the Sacred Overflow that you are.

Blessings and Light surround us,

Rev. Michael (Kisumma)
