Rising With Spirit: Anchored Beyond Appearances

There are moments in life when circumstances seem to press in with unexpected intensity—when what we planned, prepared for, and even prayed about appears to unravel. In those moments, the question is not simply how do I fix this? but rather, how do I rise? What does it mean to rise when life feels heavy, uncertain, or even overwhelming?
To rise with Spirit is to remember that our elevation does not come from force, control, or struggle. It comes from alignment. Spirit—Infinite Presence, Divine Intelligence, the very Source of life—is not something we reach for; it is something we return to. Rising, then, is not about becoming more, but about remembering who and whose we already are.
This week, I had a powerful opportunity to practice this. I returned from a deeply restorative vacation in the Yosemite forest, grounded and renewed, only to discover that the bids for our kitchen project came in at more than double what I had been planning for over the past year. In an instant, the mind could have spiraled—into worry, frustration, or doubt.
But Spirit spoke clearly: “Remember the Law of Non-Resistance.”Just say, “OK.”Then, “God is the Source and Substance of all Supply.”
And then came the deeper remembering—less than ten years ago, I witnessed what seemed impossible: the purchase of our building, despite every appearance of lack. Out of “no way” emerged a powerful “Yes way.” That memory was not just nostalgia; it was evidence of Principle in action.
So in that moment, I chose alignment. I began to chant a simple phrase often spoken by our beloved practitioner Janet White: “Spirit knows, and Spirit shows.” As I repeated it, something shifted. Not the numbers, not the bids—but my consciousness. I rose.
I remembered: It is already done.“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
This is how rising begins—within. It is the movement from reaction to realization, from fear to faith, from appearance to Truth.
To live this rise is to embody it daily. It is choosing to respond rather than react. It is anchoring in faith when the facts seem contrary. It is acting from wholeness instead of lack, trusting that what is needed is already present in the invisible, ready to be revealed.
Rising with Spirit does not mean we ignore conditions; it means we refuse to be defined by them. We meet life from a higher awareness. We become steady where we once were shaken. We become clear where we once were confused. And from that elevated consciousness, inspired action naturally follows.
This is not a one-time event. It is a practice—a moment-by-moment choice to return, to remember, and to realign.
So today, I invite you to consider: Where in your life are you being called to rise? Where can you release resistance, affirm truth, and trust Spirit more deeply?
Because the power that lifts you is already within you. And it is always ready to rise.
Your Affirmations for this Week:
I rise from the tomb through the awareness of Spirit within me.
I am lifted into heavenly thinking by divine intelligence and guided in all I do.
I choose to align with truth, and I rise triumphant above every condition.
And so, on this Easter, we remember the great symbolic invitation before us: to roll away the stone—not just from a tomb long ago, but from the places in our own lives where fear, doubt, limitation, and resistance have sealed in our highest good. We are called to release the weight of appearances and step into the light of spiritual truth.
The stone of “not enough,” the stone of “how will this work,” the stone of “I can’t”—these are not permanent fixtures. They are conditions awaiting our willingness to rise beyond them.
As we roll away the stone of entombment, we make room for resurrection consciousness—the awareness that life is ever-renewing, ever-unfolding, and forever supported by Spirit.
May you rise in that knowing.
May you walk in that light.
And may you trust, deeply and completely:
“Spirit knows, and Spirit shows.”
With Faith and Grand Rising,
Rev. Michael (Kisumma)
